Hey Moms. Remember back in the spring when we were always asking you to whip out your phones at the end of class and "check in" on Facebook or Instagram? It was so awesome. We helped raise money for some great causes through Causely and it made my heart so happy seeing all of you post about your workouts online.
Admittedly, we fell off the "checking in" wagon in the summer months. We still did it, but not with the gusto we had early on. That is changing in October.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month checking in could help save lives of other women. Causely is partnering with Bright Pink to help provide women access to risk assessment and prevention and detection education. Bright Pink is a national non-profit focused on saving young women’s lives through the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. For every 3 check-ins, we will provide a woman access to a breast and ovarian cancer risk assessment.
So, say you and two of your friends at Stroller Strides check in on Facebook at "FIT4MOM Midtown Raleigh." Ya'll can add a cute picture of you and the kids. Boom. The three of you just got another woman a cancer screening she might not otherwise get.
Then, you and two of your friends check in after a Body Back class. You all agree, you're feeling too sweaty for a selfie. No biggie. Just check in with no photo. Another woman gets a screening.
Later in the week you got the coolest picture at Run Club as you ran over the I-440 bridge. Post it on Instagram and add the location "FIT4MOM Midtown Raleigh." Get two other moms to post a pic of the cool statue at NCMA or the shot of their running shoes. Tag the location and you all have helped another woman. That's amazing, ladies.
So, not only will we all be bringing our phones to class, let's remind each other to be aware of breast health by wearing pink to class on Wednesdays in October.
We're not "mean girls", though. We're strong women.
