Have you been to Stroller Strides lately with an Instructor pushing two cute little boys? (The little one has cheeks to die for!) Then you may have been in Heather Welch's class. Heather brings good humor and a kind heart to all her classes. She's tough too. One time she got a battery powered Thomas train stuck in her hair and lived to tell the tale. She also introduced me to the term "momself" and I love it! Read on to learn more about why Heather brings so much to our team.
Name: Heather Welch
Family: "I have been married to Joe Welch for 7yrs. Our oldest son Jack is 3.5 & and our youngest son, Quinn is 19 months."
Hometown: "I grew up in Mahopac, NY but my family moved to Greensboro, NC when I was in high school."
Education: "I studied Political Science at Belmont Abbey College."
Career: "After college I went into Sales & Marketing and spent most of my career in Sales."
How did you come to FIT4MOM? "I started FIT4MOM when Jack was nine weeks old. I had just extended my maternity leave and was debating on whether or not to go back to work. I didn't know what I would do if I didn't work so I started going to Stroller Strides. We got into a routine, had a place to go and a reason to get out of the house. I found women that were just like me. They had problems with nursing or sleeping or any number of the things moms think about and worry they are the only one dealing with it. I found my "momself" there and it wasn't so scary anymore."
What is your favorite thing about our Village? "My favorite thing about our Village is that moment when you see a new member realize they aren't alone. You can see it on their face. The worry and fear melt. And they find that moment of peace that connection with another mom that let's them know they will be okay. I would tell a mom thinking about coming to our class there is no judgement here just a bunch a of moms trying to figure it all out together."
What is something we wouldn't know about you? "I asked my best friend what is something people don't know about me. Most of her answers will stay our little secret but a few things I can reveal are that I quilt, I like wheaty beers and the Dawson's Creek soundtrack is my guilty pleasure."
Anything else? "I love watching my kids get out my mat and bands and exercise. I love when Jack pretends to teach class in our living room. I love that my boys want to be just like their mom."
Heather is heading up our "Jeanuary" jeans drive for Note in the Pocket. We're collecting jeans all month. Bring them to class!
